Participate in the Celebrations of the 40th Anniversary of Independence:ALL IN

 On Thursday 10th January, the Saint Lucia Chamber of Commerce met with the National Independence Planning Committee, in a very informative meeting where the Chamber was updated on the plans for celebrating Fair Helen’s 40th Anniversary of Independence.

 
The Independence Committee under the Chairmanship of Speaker of the Senator, the Honorable Jeanine Giraudy-McIntyre informed and explained the significance of the theme  “ALL IN; Our Journey Our Future”,  and implored the support of the Chamber in getting its members to participate fully in Independence Celebrations which are expected to take place throughout the year. 
 
The Independence Planning Committee highlighted some of the Activities which they believe the Business Community could play a leading role in. These include; Pli Bel Kaye Komesyal, 20 Meets 20, the Community Legacy Projects and The Prime Minister’s Independence Ball. 
 
Pli Bel Kaye Komesyal is a competition for registered businesses with a physical locations that will conclude December 12th, 2019. This event encourages the creative use of national colors and local materials in a themed décor of the business place. 
 
The 20 Meets 20 Program seeks to have the Chamber establish a Mentoring Program where twenty of its established Business Persons will mentor twenty young entrepreneurs. The objective is to help the young entrepreneurs grow and succeed. 
 
The Community Legacy Projects, will be led and emerge from the individual communities, presents an opportunity for projects to be implemented through collaborative partnerships, with members of the community, diaspora and business houses to ensure sustainable development of the communities.  
 
The third annual Prime Minister’s Independence Ball will be hosted on a much grander scale this year and the Chamber has been invited to rally its members to support this venture whose proceeds will go to a number of worthwhile local charities
 
The Chamber pledged to support the 40th Anniversary of Independence Celebrations by reaching out to its members and inviting and encouraging them to beautify their premises and to demonstrate their love and pride in the country by supporting the various celebratory activities. 
 
Moreover, the Chamber Secretariat will soon be inviting its members to volunteer as Mentors for the 20 Meets 20 initiative that is in keeping with its Youth Business Trust philosophy. Chamber Members will also be called upon to support and attend the Prime Minister’s Independence Ball which will be a grand affair where a representative of the Royal Family and other Celebrities are expected to be in attendance.
